Dance Education Kit
Marc Richard Professor – Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (BSc, BEd, PhD, OCT)
This incredible resource from InspirEd Arts Resources and Kim Erin Spratt is an indispensable addition to the international dance education catalogue. In the past, Canadian dance educators have been important leaders in terms of resources, professional development, and creating rich community engagement for dance education. Teachers now, require this important resource as a tool to develop student creativity and awareness, reclaiming the body as a site of learning and expression. This beautifully accessible resource pays homage to the work of Joyce Boorman and other giants in dance education. At the same time, it promotes integration with other subject areas and using the body to learn, across the curriculum. Consider this manual a provocation to parents, teachers, and all the stakeholders in education, who should be investigating, in earnest, approaches to education that promote creativity and embodied learning.
Anne Green Gilbert Founder, Creative Dance Center, Seattle, WA, Author of Brain-Compatible Dance Education and Creative Dance for All Ages
Kim Erin Spratt has produced some excellent resources for dance educators in public schools and private studios. The Space, Time, Energy, Relationship, Body and Movement concept posters will inspire students and teachers to fully explore the magical vocabulary of dance. They are colorful, expressive, and in English, French (and soon Spanish)! The Ultimate Dance Education Kit is chock full of lesson plans for a myriad of concepts and subjects, assessment tools, music suggestions, vocabulary flashcards, and more! Kim has spent many years perfecting the posters and lessons and has created an invaluable resource.
Jennifer Mavity Dance Teacher – Erin Centre Middle School (PDSB) & CODE Conference Chair
The posters give new and experienced dance teachers the vocabulary to make the elements of dance accessible to all students. It also makes for easier integration across multiple subjects because all teachers can be using common language throughout the school if they have access to these posters.

Professional Development
Kathy Sitak Physical and Health Education, Chedoke School, HWDSB
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of taking one of Kim Erin Spratt’s Dance in-services at the HWDSB Arts Conference. In one quick hour, she both inspired me and motivated me to become a better dance teacher. With her knowledge and expertise of the Ontario Curriculum and the elements of dance, she showed us ways of taking the expectations and making them fun for the kids. I highly recommend that you take one of her in-services. You won’t regret it!

Bullying Prevention and Inclusion through the Arts
Parent Council Member David Hornell, TDSB
What a fantastic opportunity for the students. They loved the drums and the dancing, and I was impressed at how much they got into the discussion and characters of Bully, Bullied and Bystander.
David Grade 5 teacher, St. Roch, DPCDSB
I liked the mimic component. It was simple enough for the students to quickly follow along. The timeframe was also appropriate as students this age are easily distracted. Good pace and control throughout.
Teacher George R. Allan Elementary, HWDSB
